Lower Manhattan Transit Hub Prepares for Decade-Long Milestone Celebration

Lower Manhattan’s transit hub, the World Trade Center Oculus, is set to commemorate its tenth anniversary with a ten-day celebration beginning Friday, August 7, 2026. The event series, organized by the site's owner, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, aims to honor the landmark’s role as a center for commerce and public connection.

The festivities will commence with a rededication ceremony on August 7, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This opening event will feature a ribbon-cutting and the debut of "TEN IN BLOOM," a 10-foot floral installation commissioned from the design firm Fleurs de Villes. According to organizers, the installation will remain on display for the duration of the event series, serving as a backdrop for public photography.

Throughout the following ten days, the hub will host a variety of programming intended to engage the local community. On Saturday, August 8, the nonprofit organization Art on the Ave is scheduled to facilitate live art creation, allowing visitors to observe local artists at work. Later in the week, on Wednesday, August 12, the group Sing for Hope will perform a selection of musical favorites on the main floor between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Marco Maldonado, senior general manager of Westfield World Trade Center, stated that the hub was originally conceived as a symbol of renewal and resilience for the area. The site, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, serves as a major transit nexus connecting 13 subway lines and PATH trains, while housing over 80 retail and dining establishments.

In addition to the scheduled performances and art installations, visitors may encounter various retailer promotions and giveaways throughout the ten-day period. Guests are encouraged to participate in social media engagement opportunities, including a photo contest involving the floral display for a chance to receive gift cards for use at on-site businesses. All scheduled events are free and open to the public.
