The Bean Shrinks Footprint as Broadway Cafe Shuts Doors
The coffee chain has shuttered its Ninth Street location, leaving just one remaining storefront in the East Village.
The local coffee chain known as The Bean has reduced its East Village presence once again. The cafe situated at the intersection of Broadway and Ninth Street has ceased operations, marked by a 14-day eviction notice posted to the storefront window.
This development follows the closure of the brand's Third Avenue outpost, which shuttered earlier this year in May. At its peak, the company maintained five locations across New York City. Following the most recent closure, the business is now down to a single remaining East Village site, located at 54 Second Avenue near Third Street.
The closure continues a period of contraction for the brand within the neighborhood.
