Teenage Suspect Sought Following Double Slashing at Bronx Educational Campus

Police are searching for a teenage suspect following a violent incident at the William Howard Taft High School Educational Campus in the Bronx on Monday morning. According to law enforcement, officers from the 44th Precinct responded to the facility at 240 East 172nd St. around 10:20 a.m. following reports of a slashing.

Upon arrival, responders discovered two victims: a 53-year-old man who sustained a laceration to his left arm and a 30-year-old man who suffered a minor hand injury. Both individuals were transported to BronxCare Health System for treatment, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators have not yet determined the circumstances or motive behind the assault. The suspect remains at large and is described as a male in his teens. He was last observed wearing a black shirt, blue sweatpants, and blue sneakers, and was carrying a black backpack at the time of the incident.

The Department of Education issued a statement characterizing the event as "unacceptable and deeply concerning." A spokesperson for the department noted that school staff and safety agents followed established protocols during the incident, and that the school will receive additional support in the coming days. The agency emphasized that violence has no place within the school community.

As of late July, the 44th Precinct had recorded 547 felony assaults for the year, representing a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
