Upper West Side's Tal Bagels Temporarily Closed by Health Department

The Upper West Side location of Tal Bagels has temporarily ceased operations after being closed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

A yellow agency closure notice was posted on the front door of the establishment, located at 2446 Broadway between West 90th and 91st streets. According to the posted sign, the closure followed an inspection conducted on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Over the weekend, local residents observed activity inside the shuttered storefront. Witnesses reported seeing staff members cleaning and vacuuming the interior of the shop on Saturday and Sunday.

Specific details regarding the violations that prompted the closure have not yet been made public. The Health Department typically experiences a 72-hour delay before posting official inspection findings to its online database. As of Sunday afternoon, no updated report for the July 17 inspection was available.

Prior to this enforcement action, the Broadway bagel shop last underwent a health inspection on June 23, 2025, at which time it received an "A" grade.
