A new destination for smash burgers has arrived in the East Village. Skinny Louie, a restaurant concept that originated in Wynwood, Florida, in 2023, officially opened its doors at 141 Second Avenue on Friday, July 24.

The establishment celebrated its debut by offering complimentary burgers to the first 100 patrons in line. Reports suggest that interest in the opening was high, with the queue extending well beyond the initial promotional capacity.

This storefront represents the brand's fourth location within New York City, joining existing sites in NoMad, the West Village, and the Upper East Side. The menu focuses on a streamlined selection of Black Angus smash burgers, fries, and milkshakes, with plant-based and gluten-free alternatives available for diners with specific dietary preferences.

Skinny Louie is positioning itself to serve the neighborhood’s late-night crowd. The restaurant is scheduled to operate from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, extending its hours until 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

The company’s growth in the region is expected to continue throughout the season. According to brand announcements, additional locations are slated to open in Park Slope and at Penn Station later this summer, though specific addresses for these upcoming sites have not yet been finalized.
