NYPD Investigating Pair of Unrelated Subway Assaults in Manhattan

The New York Police Department is currently searching for two suspects involved in separate, unrelated assaults within the Manhattan subway system.

The first incident took place on the morning of June 17 at the 125th Street station. According to police reports, a 49-year-old man was standing on the southbound 6 train platform at approximately 10:05 a.m. when he was approached by an unidentified individual. Following a verbal threat, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the arm before fleeing the station on foot. The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem for treatment and was listed in stable condition. Investigators have released surveillance imagery of the suspect, who was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers, a black baseball cap, and black-and-white sneakers, while carrying a black bookbag.

A second, unrelated assault was reported on July 23 aboard a northbound 5 train as it approached the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station. At roughly 4:30 p.m., a 19-year-old man became involved in a verbal altercation with another passenger. Authorities state the dispute escalated when the suspect struck the victim repeatedly with a metal water bottle. The assailant then reportedly punched the victim multiple times in the face and placed him in a chokehold. The suspect exited the train at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station and departed the area on foot. The victim sought medical attention at NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue and remains in stable condition.

Law enforcement officials have released surveillance photographs of the suspect involved in the July 23 incident. As of this report, no arrests have been made in either case.
