NYPD Hate Crime Task Force Investigates Threatening Incident on Woodside Bus
Authorities are searching for a suspect who allegedly brandished a weapon and directed anti-Muslim rhetoric toward two passengers.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating a menacing incident that took place on a Q66 MTA bus in Woodside, Queens, on the evening of July 16, 2026. According to police reports, the encounter occurred at approximately 6 p.m. as the bus traveled near the intersection of Northern Boulevard and 51st Street.
Authorities state that a male suspect approached two women, aged 19 and 21, and brandished a box cutter. During the confrontation, the individual allegedly directed anti-Muslim remarks at the passengers, questioning their faith and threatening physical violence. No injuries were reported during the incident, and the suspect exited the vehicle before law enforcement could arrive.
Investigators have released a description of the suspect, who was last observed wearing a baseball cap, a black tracksuit top, and blue jeans. While the 114th Precinct initially responded to the scene, the case has since been transferred to the Hate Crime Task Force for further inquiry.
