Police Investigate Pair of Alleged Religious Hate Crimes

The New York City Police Department is currently investigating two separate incidents reported this week, both of which are being treated as potential hate crimes. Officials state that in both instances, the victims were targeted specifically due to their religious identity.

In the first incident, which occurred on Tuesday in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn, a 64-year-old man was allegedly shoved to the ground at the intersection of Kings Highway and Ocean Avenue. According to police reports, the assailant made anti-Jewish remarks during the encounter. The victim sustained injuries to his back and hip as a result of the fall. Investigators have reviewed video footage of the aftermath, though the suspect remains at large.

Separately, law enforcement is searching for an individual accused of making anti-Muslim threats against two women. This incident reportedly took place last Thursday aboard a Q-66 bus in Woodside, Queens. Authorities allege that the suspect brandished a box cutter while directing verbal threats at the passengers.

As of Wednesday, the NYPD has not identified suspects in either case. The investigations remain ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and seek information from the public regarding the identities of those involved in these attacks.
