Citywide Guide: Where to Catch Free Outdoor Screenings This Summer

As the summer season continues, New York City residents have numerous opportunities to enjoy cinema under the stars at no cost. Various public spaces and waterfront parks across the five boroughs have organized screening series that run through September.

In Manhattan, Bryant Park continues its tradition of Monday night screenings, which are scheduled to run through September 14. Attendees are advised that while the lawn opens at 5 p.m. for seating, chairs are prohibited, and visitors should bring blankets instead. Screenings typically begin at 8 p.m. Additionally, the Oculus at the World Trade Center is hosting a selection of films on select Thursdays and Fridays throughout the summer.

Brooklyn offers several waterfront options for moviegoers. Brooklyn Bridge Park is hosting its "Movies with a View" series on Thursday evenings at the Pier One Harborview Lawn. Nearby, Domino Park has scheduled six Tuesdays for screenings, featuring a dual-program format with family-oriented films at 4 p.m. followed by features for adults at 7 p.m.

Other notable venues participating in the summer programming include the Intrepid Museum, which has scheduled screenings for late July and August. Further afield, community screenings are taking place in Coney Island, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, providing localized options for residents across the city.
