Morris Heights Housing Lottery Offers 169 Affordable Units

A new housing lottery has launched for 169 affordable apartments at 51 Featherbed Lane in the Bronx, marking the second phase of the Starhill development project. The initiative, led by Services for the UnderServed (S:US) and Bronx Pro Group, aims to provide housing for New Yorkers earning between 40 and 60 percent of the area median income.

Monthly rents for the available units start at $777 for studios and reach up to $2,142 for three-bedroom apartments. The broader 244-unit building includes 74 supportive housing residences, which are intended for formerly homeless individuals and families and will be paired with on-site supportive services.

Designed by Marvel Architects, the complex occupies a site previously used for a residential treatment center. The current development is part of a larger effort to deliver 570 affordable homes to the area, alongside new public open space and passive recreation areas for residents. Amenities within the building include bike storage, a shared laundry room, free WiFi, and a landscaped terrace.

Residents of Bronx Community Board 5 will receive preference for 20 percent of the available units. The project is financed through the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Housing Development Corporation.
