Police Seek Suspect Following Violent Assault on Senior in Midtown

The New York Police Department is investigating an unprovoked assault that left a 75-year-old man hospitalized in Midtown earlier this week.

According to law enforcement reports, the incident took place at approximately 6:28 a.m. on July 30. The victim was walking in the vicinity of 541 Lexington Avenue when he was approached by an unidentified individual. Police state that the suspect struck the man in the face with a closed fist before fleeing the area on foot, heading southbound on Lexington Avenue toward East 49th Street.

Emergency responders transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment. Medical staff confirmed the man sustained a fractured orbital bone, though he was reported to be in stable condition following the attack.

Investigators have released images of the suspect to assist in the identification process. The individual is described as a man with a dark complexion who was observed wearing a white T-shirt, black trousers, and black footwear at the time of the encounter.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the suspect and the victim had any prior interaction or if the motive for the attack remains under investigation. The 17th Precinct is currently handling the case.
