Police Seek Suspect in Violent Assault at 86th Street Subway Station

The New York Police Department is requesting public assistance in identifying a woman involved in a physical altercation at the 86th Street subway station last month. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on June 5 at approximately 8:20 a.m. on a northbound 5 train.

Investigators report that the confrontation began when the suspect blocked the train's exit, preventing a 64-year-old woman from disembarking. A verbal dispute ensued, which authorities say escalated when the suspect punched the victim in the face while still on the train. The assault reportedly continued onto the station platform, where the victim was struck several more times before the suspect fled the scene aboard the same train.

Emergency responders from the 19th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 4 were notified of the attack. While the victim sustained a laceration to her right eye, she declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police have released images of the suspect to aid in the ongoing investigation. She was last observed wearing black pants and a blue sweatshirt featuring stars and the number 76 on the front.
