Little Island Unveils Summer Performance Slate

As the city enters the peak of summer, Little Island has returned with its latest seasonal programming. Since its 2021 debut, the park—built upon the remnants of the storm-damaged Pier 54—has served as a venue for more than 885 performances and welcomed over 7.5 million visitors.

This year’s schedule includes 56 distinct performances featuring a roster of more than 200 artists. The lineup spans a variety of disciplines, including live radio, theatrical premieres, and musical concerts. Organizers have maintained a tiered pricing structure, with tickets for events at The Amph set at $25, while programming hosted in The Glade and The Play Ground remains free to the public.

The current schedule highlights several notable collaborations. Anthony Roth Costanzo is slated to perform alongside Sandbox Percussion, PUBLIQuartet, and others. Later in the month, Cécile McLorin Salvant is scheduled to lead a series of performances exploring the history of American popular song. The park will also host a world-premiere production titled *Marina*, a theatrical work by Julio Torres and Martine Gutierrez.

Beyond traditional performance art, the park is incorporating culinary and educational themes into its offerings. Events include a live program from Radiolab focused on the study of grass, as well as food-centered presentations from Ghetto Gastro and Teranga. The season also features recurring social events, such as Friday night gatherings hosted by Papi Juice and a swing-dance celebration scheduled for August 22.
