New Café Lerivez Debuts on East 12th Street
Husband-and-wife team launch neighborhood spot featuring creative specialty beverages.
A new neighborhood café, Lerivez Coffee, has officially begun operations at 515 E. 12th St. in the East Village. The business is the project of owners Pedro Chavez and Erika Chau, a husband-and-wife team who bring previous professional experience as baristas to their new venture.
The name of the shop is a portmanteau, blending the name of the couple's dog, Luna, with elements from the owners' names, Erika and Chavez. According to statements provided to NY Locals, the proprietors aim to cultivate a welcoming environment that caters to both coffee enthusiasts and those who prefer non-caffeinated options through a carefully curated menu.
Among the specialty offerings currently available are unique flavor profiles such as apple pie iced tea, peach cobbler cream soda, and apple butter matcha.
As of late July 2026, the café is maintaining operating hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend hours extending from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interested patrons are encouraged to monitor the shop's social media presence on Instagram for potential updates to their schedule or menu offerings.
