Harlem Week Career Fair Returns to City College on August 12
The annual event connects local job seekers with dozens of employers across sectors ranging from healthcare to public safety.
As part of the ongoing 16-day Harlem Week celebration, the annual Jobs and Career Fair is set to return on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Organizers expect to host between 40 and 50 employers at the City College of New York (CCNY) to facilitate direct engagement between recruiters and local job seekers.
The event, which will be held in room 051 of Shepard Hall at 160 Convent Ave, aims to provide economic opportunities for residents in the surrounding area. According to Dr. Michael Flanigan, a member of the Harlem Week executive board and the fair's lead organizer, the initiative is designed to bring career resources directly to the community, reducing the need for residents to travel elsewhere for employment prospects.
"The key is being prepared," Flanigan stated, emphasizing that attendees should arrive with multiple copies of their resumes to reflect their experience and qualifications. He noted that the fair is intended to serve a wide demographic, from teenagers entering the workforce to seniors and those looking to transition into new career paths.
Participating organizations typically represent a diverse array of industries, including finance, technology, construction, hospitality, and green energy. Major employers previously associated with the fair include Mount Sinai Hospital, Con Edison, Chase Bank, Columbia University, the MTA, and various city agencies such as the NYPD and FDNY.
Since its inception in 2022—a year marked by significant economic shifts following the COVID-19 pandemic—the fair has seen substantial growth in attendance. Organizers reported a record turnout of over 5,000 people in 2024, with approximately 4,000 attendees recorded last year. Flanigan suggested that the in-person format remains a vital component of the event, noting that some participants have historically received job offers on the spot.
Harlem Week, which runs from August 1 through August 16, 2026, continues to position the job fair as a cornerstone of its mission to foster economic mobility. Those interested in attending or seeking further details regarding the participating employers are encouraged to visit the official Harlem Week website.
