Police Search for Suspect After Subway Platform Altercation in Greenwich Village

Authorities are searching for an individual involved in a violent confrontation at the West 4th Street subway station on Friday morning. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred shortly after 9:05 a.m. on the E line platform.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 27-year-old man was involved in a dispute with another passenger while aboard an E train. Investigators believe the disagreement began after the two men exchanged stares. The conflict escalated once the train arrived at the station, moving from the subway car onto the platform. Moments later, the suspect allegedly shoved the victim onto the tracks.

Bystanders present on the platform intervened, pulling the victim to safety before an incoming train reached the station. Emergency responders from the NYPD’s 6th Precinct and Transit District 2 arrived shortly thereafter. The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, including bruises and scratches, and remains in stable condition.

The suspect, who reportedly fled the scene by boarding a different train, is described as a stocky male standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing. Detectives are currently canvassing the station for security camera footage to assist in the identification and apprehension of the individual.
