Flamingos Vintage Pound Expands East Village Footprint

Flamingos Vintage Pound has announced plans to open a new retail space at 199 First Avenue in the East Village, according to company social media updates. The storefront, situated between 12th and 13th Streets, will replace a former smoke shop and convenience store.

While the company has confirmed the expansion, an official opening date for the new location has not yet been disclosed. This addition will serve as the brand's second current East Village outpost, joining the shop at 4 St. Mark's Place that launched in May 2025.

The retailer, which operates over 40 locations globally, specializes in selling secondhand apparel by weight. Current pricing for its inventory is set at $17.99 per pound, with the business frequently offering promotional discounts for bulk purchases.

This move represents a return to the First Avenue corridor for the brand. Prior to the pandemic, Flamingos maintained a presence in the East Village with several shops, including locations near Ninth Street and on 11th Street, as well as a storefront on Stanton Street. The company’s previous First Avenue operation was the final of those original neighborhood locations to close, shuttering in the fall of 2021.

The expansion arrives as the market for resale and vintage clothing continues to see sustained interest from consumers seeking affordable, unique garments and sustainable shopping alternatives.
