Deli Employee Injured During Overnight Robbery Attempt on Rivington Street

A 25-year-old employee was injured during an attempted armed robbery at a Lower East Side deli early Thursday morning, according to local law enforcement. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Rivington Street.

The victim, who identified himself as an employee named Ace, reported that the encounter began when a customer attempted to purchase items but lacked sufficient funds. According to the employee, the individual waited for a moment of distraction before brandishing a firearm in an attempt to rob the establishment. During the ensuing struggle, the worker was grazed in the upper leg by a bullet. He reportedly received medical treatment and is currently in recovery.

Investigators were observed at the scene throughout Thursday morning collecting evidence. The suspect, who remains at large, was last seen fleeing the area on foot. Police described the individual as wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers.

Despite the violent nature of the encounter, the employee noted that the business maintains several security measures, including surveillance cameras, panic buttons, and a buzzer system. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
