Cj Hendry Brings Interactive 'Pastel' Installation to Salon 94 Design

Artist Cj Hendry is set to debut her latest exhibition, *Pastel*, at Salon 94 Design this summer. The installation, which explores the intersection of consumer desire and artistic practice, will be open to the public from August 6 through August 16, 2026.

At the center of the exhibition is a large-scale pit filled with candy-colored beads. Visitors are invited to interact with the space by assembling their own jewelry, such as necklaces and bracelets. These participatory elements are presented alongside a collection of drawings, apparel, and design objects, blurring the traditional lines between fine art, merchandise, and personal souvenirs.

Hendry, known for her hyperrealistic drawings and immersive, large-scale installations, often utilizes themes of scarcity and social circulation in her work. Her practice frequently examines how cultural value is manufactured and absorbed in the digital age. By collaborating with Salon 94 Design—a gallery founded by Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn that operates at the intersection of performance, design, and contemporary art—Hendry continues her exploration of how audiences engage with art in an era defined by social media and immediate gratification.

This upcoming project follows Hendry’s previous work, including the *Opaque* exhibition in SoHo, which featured a monochromatic, black-themed ice cream experience created in partnership with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Much like her past interventions, *Pastel* aims to challenge the distinction between the viewer and the consumed object, positioning the act of participation as a central component of the artistic experience.
