Police Seek Suspect in Central Park Food Truck Theft
Authorities are asking for public assistance after a backpack containing $3,500 was taken from a vendor near 85th Street.
The New York Police Department is investigating a grand larceny incident that took place in Central Park last month. According to official reports, the theft occurred on the evening of June 21, 2026, at approximately 8 p.m.
Investigators state that an unidentified individual approached a food truck stationed on East Drive, near 85th Street. The suspect allegedly reached behind the vehicle and removed a backpack belonging to an employee. Police report that the bag contained approximately $3,500 in cash.
In an effort to identify the individual involved, the NYPD released a photograph of the suspect on July 17. As of the most recent update, it remains unclear if the individual has been identified or apprehended by authorities.
