Police Search for Suspect Following Early Morning Shooting in the Bronx

A 36-year-old man remains in stable condition after being struck by gunfire near East 181 Street.

Law enforcement officials are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that left a man injured early Sunday morning in the Bronx.

According to reports from the NYPD, the incident took place shortly before 2 a.m. on August 2 near the intersection of Corona Parkway and East 181 Street. Officers responding to the scene from the 48th Precinct discovered a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his armpit.

Emergency medical services transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities have provided a limited description of the assailant, noting that the individual is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was observed wearing all-black clothing at the time of the incident. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction, and police have stated that a motive for the violence has not yet been established.

Data from the NYPD indicates that the 48th Precinct has seen an uptick in gun-related incidents this year, with total shootings rising by 6.2% and the number of victims increasing by 11.1% compared to previous figures.

As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.
