Bronx Man Arrested Following Investigation Into Multi-Year Abuse Allegations

A 42-year-old Bronx man was arrested late Friday night following an extensive investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving multiple minors. Stephen Charles, who police say resided in the Edenwald neighborhood, was taken into custody by officers in the 50th Precinct, which encompasses areas including Riverdale, Kingsbridge, and Marble Hill.

According to law enforcement, Charles faces more than 30 charges, including predatory sexual assault against a child, rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. The allegations stem from a series of incidents reported to have occurred between January 2018 and May 2026.

Investigators allege that Charles targeted six victims, ranging in age from 10 to 18. The group includes five boys and one girl. Police stated that while one of the victims was a family member, Charles allegedly met several others while they were residing at the same homeless shelters.

The arrest followed a public appeal from the NYPD, which had requested assistance in locating the suspect just one day prior to his apprehension. As of the latest reports, information regarding legal representation for Charles was not immediately available. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities process the multiple counts filed against him.
