Law enforcement officials are actively searching for a suspect involved in an assault that took place on the evening of July 4, 2026. According to reports from the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. inside the Progreso Latino deli, situated near the corner of Fort Hamilton Parkway and 45th Street in Borough Park.

Investigators state that a 21-year-old woman was approached by a man who proceeded to grab her by the neck with both hands. While the motive for the encounter remains unclear, law enforcement sources have indicated that the victim and the alleged assailant are acquaintances. The woman was able to break free from the man’s grasp, and the suspect subsequently fled the premises in an unknown direction.
